A round of applause, or high fives, for everyone who made Ripon Septemberfest 2009 a huge success. The day was filled with activities for the huge turnout of fans.
The Britins took centerstage in front of the TasteRipon.com truck showcasing some of the best classic Beatles songs. The outstanding music served as the background for a day of fun in the sun. The classic car rally, mascot race, and eating contest were some of the highlights, but best of all was the record attempt for simultaneous high fives.

The TasteRipon.com mascots came out in full force with hand crafted, pun intended, signs representing the four restaurants–America, Dos Gringos, Roadhouse, Suds. Molly Wheaton lent a hand and joined the mascots as they all participated in the record setting attempt. Watch the video then get up and do the twist.
The benches were packed, the food was on the way, and the shouts started resonating in the crowd. The eating contest had arrived and the contestants were ready. Jonny West started out fast as did a crowd favorite Brian. Not to be outdone, Cher Vang of St. Paul, MN and current Ripon College English student took the cake in the TasteRipon.com Eating Contest.
While feasting on Roadhouse fried pickles, a Dos taco, an America flourless chocolate cake, and a Suds non-alcoholic pina colada he raced to the end and was victorious. When asked what he thought of the contest he said, “I was just…I was panicking.” He added, “I didn’t have a strategy, I just wanted to eat fast.” Vang won a $100 Gift Certificate good at any of the TasteRipon.com restaurants. Congratulations!
Finally, the crowd favorite Cookie Monster was outpaced by the America Breadstick in the highly anticipated mascot race. Watch all the footage and post-race interviews.

Septemberfest 2009 was a great success and could not have been so great without the support of the town. Hundreds of people turned out in support of the event and the superior effort of the Ripon Chamber of Commerce, City of Ripon, State Farm, and TasteRipon.com made it one of the best in recent history.
